About

Classical Hugs Academy introduces a rare opportunity to study and share stage

with legendary Shlomo Mintz, as part of ORQUESTA SINFÓNICA CONSERVATORIO

SUPERIOR DE MÚSICA DE MURCIA, under the baton of Maestro José Miguel Rodilla. 

This project is presented by Classical Hugs in collaboration with CONSERVATORIO SUPERIOR “MANUEL MASSOTTI” DE MURCIA, Spain & Academia Diesis

 

Eligibility

Violin/Viola Masterclasses with Shlomo Mintz (February 1-3) - Cost - €380

Masterclasses are open to violinists and violists of all nationalities and ages. 

A maximum of 10 violinists & violists will be selected to study with Mintz (active participation), based on video/audio links. 

All other instrumentalists will receive acceptance to play in Orquesta Sinfónica - Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia (passive participation), will receive €400 scholarships, and opportunity to:

- Perform Gala concert with Shlomo Mintz & Michael Bulychev-Okser

as part of Orquesta Sinfónica Conservatorio Superior de Murcia.

- Observe all Shlomo Mintz's masterclasses.

- Perform in students' concert with a piano accompanist - Chamber Hall.

- Receive orchestral audition training from Maestro José Miguel Rodilla.

- Perform orchestra audition simulation - January 29.

- Receive an HD video recording of all concerts and masterclasses.

- Room & Board (a choice of hostel or hotel) - 5-7 minutes walk to the center.

Orchestral instruments (passive participation) - Cost: €300

We welcome the following instruments to be part of the Orquesta Sinfónica - Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia for the Shlomo Mintz concert: Violin, Viola, Double Bass. We accept musicians of all ages and from all nationalities.

 

Piano Masterclasses - with Professor Michael Bulychev-Okser (USA). Cost: €75 - 1 masterclass. 

Open to pianists of all ages and levels. Piano participants can observe all masterclasses and participate in students' concert on February 3 at the Chamber Hall of Conservatorio de Murcia.

Scholarships: Limited number of stipends is offered to those who apply early: before December 20, 2021. 

Scholarships will be provided based on the Application video/audio recordings and personal financial needs.

Dates/Schedule

January 12 - Notification of acceptance into the program. 

January 28 - Arrival in Murcia, Spain. 

January 29 - Orchestral Audition simulation & training - Maestro José Miguel Rodilla. Orchestra Rehearsal. 

January 30 - Orchestra rehearsals with soloists: Shlomo Mintz and Michael Bulychev-Okser. 

January 31 - Dress Rehearsal. Gala concert with Shlomo Mintz and Michael Bulychev-Okser - 20:00. 

February 1 - Morning/afternoon - Masterclasses with Shlomo Mintz - Day 1 / Solo/chamber coaching - Prof. Bulychev-Okser

February 2 - Morning/afternoon - Masterclasses with Shlomo Mintz - Day 2 / Solo/chamber coaching - Prof. Bulychev-Okser

February 3 - Morning/afternoon - Masterclasses with Shlomo Mintz - Day 3 / Evening - Students' Concert - Chamber Hall.

February 4 - Departure

Program includes

- 2 Masterclasses with Shlomo Mintz - 30-40 minutes each

- 1 Gala concert with Shlomo Mintz & Michael Bulychev-Okser at Orquesta Sinfónica Conservatorio Superior de Murcia

- Observe all Shlomo Mintz's masterclasses

- Perform in students' concert with a piano accompanist - February 3.

- Receive orchestral audition training from Maestro José Miguel Rodilla

- Perform orchestra audition simulation - January 29.

- Receive an HD video recording of all concerts and masterclasses.

- Room & Board (a choice of hostel or hotel) - 5-7 minutes walk to the center (or find own accommodation).

- Artistic promotion/branding on Social media.

- Daily Practicing hours in the same location as Masterclasses.

- Walking Tour around Murcia Centre.

- Participation Diploma.

Accommodation/Meals 

Accommodation is available at a discounted price at The Cathedral Hostel (€120 for 7 nights) or Hotel Universal (€180 for 7 nights). The accommodation comes with breakfast. Participants are welcome to find their own accommodation. 

 

Certificates & Diplomas

All students participating in the program in Murcia will be granted study certificates.

F. Mendelssohn - Bartholdy: The Concerto for Piano, Violin, and Strings in D minor,

Soloists: Shlomo Mintz, Violin & Michael Bulychev-Okser, piano.

Recording for application.

As part of the application, participants need to submit a recording. We don't have strict rules for the recording.

There can be 1 or several recordings, any timing and format (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, Spotify, or any other).

The recording does not have to contain works you play at your masterclasses. The recording can be solo or with orchestra.

The recording needs to be made within the last 5 years.

Covid-19 regulations and safety

Currently, Spain has a very low number of infections. It welcomes citizens from all countries around the world.

Hotels, practice locations, and concert venues offer fully sanitized facilities, with many people already vaccinated.
