ABOUT Gershwin Competition

George Gershwin International Music Competition aims to discover talent, reward brilliance, and celebrate musical artistry.

The Competition is named after George Gershwin, whose music had long been a part of the American consciousness. Truly a pioneer in his field, George Gershwin drew inspiration from European classical music, American popular music, and jazz to form a unique style that would come to define American music.

Mission

Offering international talents performance opportunities, the competition aims to universalize George Gershwin's extraordinary legacy around the world. Performing Gershwin’s music for the enthralled New York audience, future “stars” of a musical horizon seek to capture timelessness in an eminent sense of sound…

Artistic Director/Founder

Founded in 2013 by American pianist and composer Michael Bulychev-Okser, George Gershwin International Music Competition takes place every two years in New York, USA, and is open to talented musicians of all nationalities.
