Classical Hugs Piano Academy in Tallinn, Estonia ~ September 1-7, 2023

About

Classical Hugs International Music Festival explores cross-cultural and musical connections between Estonia and countries of Western Europe, Asia, and America. The festival presents piano masterclasses by world-class Professors from The United States and Europe.

Cultural Message and Mission

A hug is a simple expression of human warmth. A Classical Hug is an expression of an affectionate feeling through music.

The festival's mission is to demonstrate how music can bring love and peace worldwide. 

​

Facilities

Classical Hugs masterclasses and music practice will be held at Viimsi Atrium. Dmitri Alexeev's Concert will take place at Mustpeade Maja in Tallinn, and the students' performance will take place at the Tallinn History Museum.

Classical Hugs Music Festival's Artistic Director is Michael Bulychev-Okser (USA).

Concerts

As part of the piano academy, world-class professor Dmitri Alexeev will perform a solo recital on September 7th at Mustpeade Maja. 

Additionally, students at the piano academy can perform their solo repertoire at Tallinn's History Museum. 

 

Eligibility 

Masterclasses are open to pianists of all nationalities and ages.

Period  and cost

active participation: 1 week: September 1-7 - 3 masterclasses + 1 student concert + Recording of concert = 600 €

Passive Participation (only listening): 100 €

 

Scholarships: Limited number of stipends is offered to those who apply early: on or before August 15, 2023.

Scholarships will be provided based on the applicants' video/audio recordings and personal financial needs.

Accommodation/Meals 

Room and Board 

Classical Hugs Music Festival can recommend discount accommodation in Tallinn as follows: 

 a) hostel; b) apartment with a kitchenette, c) 4-star hotel

- Hostel - €20/night (double room)

- Apartment (shared with other students - 2-3 students per apartment) - €35/night

- 4-star Hotel - single room with breakfast at - €55-60/night.

Meals (breakfasts, lunches) are available for purchase at Lido Cafe in Tallinn at €20-30 per person.

August 30-31 - Arrival in Tallinn, Estonia

September 1-5 - Piano Masterclasses with Dmitri Alexeev, Michael Bulychev-Okser, and Graham Scott.

September 6 - Students' solo concert at Tallinn History Museum

September 7 - Dmitri Alexeev - Solo Recital - Mustpeade Maja - White Hall

Certificates & Diplomas

All Active students who have participated in the Classical Hugs Orchestral program in Estonia will be granted attendance certificates. Diplomas of Merit or Honor may also be granted.
